Adventure Week Finale

Today, our last day of Adventure Week, Groups 4 and 5 went on a filed trip to Breezy Waterslides while Groups 1, 2 and 3 stayed at the Westborough Community Education Camp and did fun activites. The best group activity today was Trafic Jam. This game was a combination of the three younger groups and the CIT's and JR Staff. Each corner of the gym was a base for one team. There was a big cone in the middle  of the gym where if your group is called, you must run to the middle go around the cone and get back to your base. The only catch is that there are people throwing dodge balls at anyone trying to make it back to their base.

Another big activity that was going on today was the inflatables, they come to our camp for the campers to enjoy. The inflatabes were the Jurasic Park waterslide and the Adventure Obsticle course.

Counselor of the Week: Pat Hession

Activity Specialist of the Week: Mike Webb

C.I.T of the Week:Deirde Robins

Jr.Staff of the Week:Danielle Mellor

Camper of the Week: James Barry

One activity that we had for the campers on Thursday was Ultimate Frisbee which is when the groups split up into two teams and pass the Frisbee around trying to get it into the opposite net.  The team that gets the Frisbee in the opposite net the most times wins.
The main activity of the day was Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt. Part of this scavenger hunt was when the campers try to make numbers with their bodies.  Group 1 won against Group 2 and Group 5 won against Groups 4 and 3.  Also, for the Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt the campers had to get on the computers and race to find there next clue on there and then race over campus to find more clues.

The fun activities that we have today in the Westborough Community Education camp are Kingpin handball, cinnabuns and toxic waste. Kingpin handball is when all the campers have a pin to guard from dodge balls that are being thrown by other campers guarding there pins.
Cinnabuns is a cooking activity that groups work together to make and enjoy when they are done.

Toxic waste is another good group building activity where the campers have to cross a mat without touching it, using other objects to help them cross it. In order to succeed this activity the groups have to listen to each other’s ideas, have positive attitude and help each other out.

Group 1 had a awesome time on there trip to Armstrong.

Today in Westborough Community Education summer camp we did an obstacle course challenge. This challenge is when you have partners and one of the partners is blind folded and led by the other partner through the obstacle course.  It was a blast!

Another thing we did today in camp was melting beads. This arts and crafts project is when you have stencils to put beads on and heat them up so they turn into designs.
Clay sculptures are another arts and crafts project that we have been working on for 2 days. The first day they sculpted their clay into anything they wanted. The second day they painted their clay sculptures.

At least a few times a week the campers get to go on computers for 45 minutes and play appropriate/educational games that they enjoy.
It is only day 2 and we have been busy and having fun! Check back to see what else we will be up to!
