No Sleep at Pajama Day

With party week nearing towards the end, what would the week be without a pajama party?! Counselors, campers, and staff showed up excited for the day wearing their favorite pair of pajamas. Some campers were even accompanied by their favorite stuffed animal! The hot day was filled with several of the campers favorite activities such a Hide and Go Seek in the dark lit auditorium, a competitive, team building game of Electric Chicken on the turf, and ending the day with a giant all camp pajama party. During this party, counselors bravely participated in the “Mummy Wrap”, where their campers wrapped their counselor with streamers to have them resemble a mummy, goblin, or monster that they might envision in their dreams!

Hawaiian Luau For the Day

All Wrapped Up!!!!!

Party Week rolls right along with "Hawaiian Day" at Community Education Summer Camp, as the campers enjoyed the afternoon luau. With almost all the campers and staff wearing their bright Hawaiian leis, grass skirts, and flowery hair pieces, Hawaiian day became a huge success and one of the most festive days at camp yet. With Dodge Ball always being a huge camp hit, we decided to give the traditional game a twist, with "Circle Dodge Ball," where outs come from all directions. Other activities that made "Hawaiian Day" roll right along were "Pairs Capture the Flag," where campers had to work together with their partners to retrieve the opponents flag, a little bit of culinary arts with the creation of our version of Hawaiian Punch. During the morning period, groups came together to decorate and paint their teams watermellon, with the "Party Crashers" taking first place for the best looking watermellon, just to have all smashed at the "Hawaiian Luau" activity, "Watermellon Puzzle Challenge." But it all came to a hilarious end at the Luau when the campers got to show the counselors who the real masters of the program are with the "Colorful Counselor Wrap," as Group One comes up on top.

Tuesday Brings Out A Fiesta

Fiesta Anyone?

During the second day of Party Week, we celebrated our neighbors to the south with Fiesta Day. Participating in an age old tradition, the campers built festive colorful pinatas, filled with an assortment of candy. In addition, the campers got a little pirate treatment with a special version of dodge ball called "Booty," as the kids got to compete for treasure, work on their team building skills with "Water Balloon Minefield," and explore their adventurous side with "Ship's Captain."

Beach Party Starts The Week

We're having a Party!!!!!

Party Week started off with an end of the day "Beach Party" where the campers were able to enjoy the great weather while playing outside. Monday was a great day with the campers attempting to make Lava Lamps out of recycled bottles, creating group names and banners, testing their accuracy against fellow campers with the "Blanket Balloon Toss," challenging their senses in Marco Pollo, and discovering a royal side in "Kings Court." But the best part of Monday was the end of the day Beach Party where our staff got to let loose with the kids. The "Beach Party" consisted of ring toss, balloon play, hanging out in the sand, and water based relay races.
Thursday will be Pajama Day, feel free to come on in with your PJs

Olympics Week was definitely our most active week of the summer so far, with Wednesday's "Water Olympics, Thursday's Field Day, and then to cap it all off, our friends from Crystal Entertainment came by on Friday with an Inflatable Race Course and Jousting activity. Here are some of the Highlights of Olympics Week:

On Monday, our activity lead, Frank Campos, showed off his favorite Marshmallow Tower to the rest of the Camp, while protecting his eyes from the blinding hallway sun.

Brotherly love shined through when Rob and Tom O'Connor agreed to disagree about which group created the best Marshmellow Tower.

The World Champion of Sock Wrestling was named, and everyone had a blast.

Today is the begining of Party Week, where everyday ends with a party.
